Physical activity / exercise is a well-known multi-purpose tool in regard to physical, but also cognitive and mental health. But how our brain is influenced by exercise is still not entirely known. Moreover, even in times of brain computer interfaces, it still is not completely unravelled how our brain executes and controls movement. In order to further illuminate our black box and to study the brain in regard to and especially during exercise, portable, robust and economic brain imaging methods are required.

The talk will introduce the advantages, disadvantages, prospects and limitations of brain imaging methods in exercise settings. Insights into past and ongoing research studies at the German Sport University will be provided in order to demonstrate examples of EEG data processing and various ways of EEG analysis. A quick hands-on part is planned in order to demonstrate the applicability and what we can learn from EEG in exercise settings.
